What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I like it! Apart from the star block. Cannot believe I didn’t notice that before I saved the design.

The other blocks and the quilting motifs are a collection of old style applique in old fashioned colours, but with a bit of a twist here and there.

The pieced blocks in the second design do not include the rogue star which appeared in the first.

Interesting sashing, resulting in a lovely design.

Note the pale pink border fabric … if I was using that fabric in a real quilt border I would cut it so that the pattern looked like the top and bottom borders … or the side borders.

In Electric Quilt all I had to do was click a couple of times to get the fabric the right way round.

Too many blocks or not enough variety in the blocks … me thinks the latter. Or maybe some of them should be plain blocks.

Love leadlight and stained glass windows and I think these designs would look great on a bed, or hanging on a wall.

I tried to pick a favourite, but it was a dead heat between these two.

With spring showing on the calendar, I hope to see a burst of florals in the garden, and in the native bush nearby.

Can’t help liking the designs in this project file, but I am wondering if I could use Australian native flowers. Interesting thought!

Lovely, but how would I quilt it? I would scatter a few birds, or fairies might be appropriate, flying around with a lot of filler, perhaps cross hatch.

Love the second design, and I would enlarge those quilted wreaths to fill the space between the border and the centre part of the design, then fill in with cross hatch, or perhaps stippling.

Some stylized colourings and shapes of some Aussie wildflowers, and it is a pity we don’t see the colours I have used in real life.

Colours are a bit more realistic in the second design, and I like it that way. The first one should have had a colour change in the border.

I have to admit that pretty much every day I add more designs to whatever project file I open … I keep wondering what it would look like if I change a block, swap some colours, and after just a few minutes I might have added five or more designs to the file.

Sort of looks like a couple of patches in my garden where the jonquils have gathered. Project for the future should be to draw some jonquils and daffodils.

I like the second one … very interesting.

I still like the colours in these designs … they remind me of antique quilts.

I like the colours in these designs too, because on the whole I design quilts to go on beds to keep people warm, and I like to go to bed in a room dedicated and decorated as a peaceful resting place.

More of the same, and this one is my favorite.

I started with Fiddlebobs blocks, and added a handful of pieced blocks, not being sure what might happen with this mixture, but at least the first designs looks OK.

So far, so good!

Love the second design with all the seam lines between blocks covered with beads, though I would be tempted to make this a a whole cloth quilt with no seam lines until the border.

Love the space for quilting to shine through.

The project file has some much simpler applique than may of my designs.

Simple layout, not so simple applique!

I wanted to add some quilting ideas, but found very little in my block library which would be useful in these designs. My usual quilting focuses on outlining the applique design pieces, about 1/8th of an inch outside the pieces, and then filling in the background spaces with similar designs with simple fillers, such as cross hatch, straight lines, either set straight or on the diagonal, or stippling to fill in the spaces.
